Taking up a job within the marine biology circuit usually requires a pretty wide background and other requirements. It is also an opportunity to be immersed in the fields of biology, chemistry, conservation biology, statistics, ecology, and biology.
The main requirement for a marine biology job is to have a Bachelor of Science degree that at least branches subjects that cover marine biology. This of course depends as course titles are not the same in all institutions.
Employment in the field of marine biology means being in a multidisciplinary field of study, one that merges both biology and ecology, as well as many other fields of environmental science.
The workload that comes with getting into this sort of profession includes contributing to studies regarding protected marine areas and conserving local biodiversity. A lot of time is also given to studying the effects of global climate change on marine ecosystems. On occasion marine biologists also have to find out ways on how to control invasive marine pest species. A lot of the work involves research mainly, but also dips on environmental management, conservation, and other aspects that don't necessarily involve going into the field like administration, management, and the promotion of tourism.
Taking up employment as a marine biologist also gives one the opportunity to travel and and interact with lots of interesting people. It may also lead to other careers like being an oceanographer or environmental manager.
